Owned by the United States Department of Energy and administered by UChicago Argonne LLC of the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory is the largest laboratory in the Midwest.
During my tenure as a contractor at Argonne National Laboratory, I played a key role in the maintenance and enhancement of the organization's Drupal-based web infrastructure. My work included:
- Drupal Upgrade and Maintenance: I successfully updated several websites within a multisite Drupal 9 installation to Drupal 10. This involved conducting a thorough audit of existing modules, themes, and custom code, ensuring compatibility with the latest version, and performing testing to ensure a smooth transition. I also addressed security patches and optimized site performance, contributing to the stability and long-term sustainability of the system.
- Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Monitoring System: I designed, planned, and implemented a comprehensive monitoring system for services delivered via the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The goal was to proactively monitor the health of critical services and immediately notify the technical team when any of these services became unavailable. This monitoring solution was integrated into the existing infrastructure, enhancing the lab's ability to detect and respond to service disruptions before they impacted operations. The system allowed for better visibility into the ESB and facilitated prompt, targeted actions to resolve any issues.
My work at Argonne National Laboratory helped ensure that the organization's web infrastructure remained secure, up-to-date, and robust, while also enhancing the monitoring and reliability of critical enterprise services.
